Current Prayer Requests

I thought I would take the time to write out and explain some really important ministry prayer requests. Prayer is one of the most important things we do in ministry and that we can do for our brothers and sisters.

Pray for:

My funding: Next month, I’m going to focus more of my hours on my ministry partnership development. I am still looking for about $1000/month in partnership to be fully-funded and on campus full-time. Recently, I was reflecting on my finances and realized that I have been in this limbo place for the last couple years where I am always ALMOST making it, but never quite there. That’s an exhausting place to be, and I don’t think that God wants us to have as much anxiety and stress about our money. The reality is, not only will a fully-funded budget get me on campus full-time, but it will also afford me really good health insurance! As I recently turned 26, I also entered the brave new world of no longer having access to my parent’s awesome health insurance. Pray for God to provide people who are so willing to get behind this ministry, pray for my fragile heart to be healed of the belief that I’m not worth giving to, and pray that soon I will start to have a healthy financial life.

Launching new ministries at UA: Recently, our students here at UA have decided they wanted to reach corners of campus where there is a spiritual need. Some corners of campus are not actively sought out by Christian groups. This includes a lot of the minority students and cultural centers on campus. We want to be a community who bring the Kingdom of God and his love, joy and freedom to all peoples, cultures, and nations. After communally laying hands on one another, some of our students set out to start a Bible study for Native and Indigenous students on campus and a Bible study for Latino students on campus. If you have any questions about why we do strategic ministry like this, feel free to call me up. I would love to share more about InterVarsity’s heart for multiethnic ministry, racial reconciliation, and God’s heart for all people. Pray for my students to be bold and loving, and pray that students out on campus would be open to coming and studying the word with new friends. Pray that healing would happen and that we would see people come to know Jesus.

Greek Ministry at NAU– As you all might know, there was a shooting at NAU this month. This really hit close to home for me considering the scuffle happened between Fraternity men. That was my mission field last year at NAU and I left a group of Greek life students to continue the ministry. Pray for Breezy, Emily, Kate, Kodi, Scott, and Maddi as they lead other Greek members in Bible studies and growing closer to Jesus. They held a prayer event in response to the shooting that over 120 fraternity men and sorority women showed up for. There is a deep spiritual need being met in that community through these amazing students and their obedience to God’s call on their lives. I am blessed to have been able to start that ministry and see it grow and unfold even in my absence. God likes to show off.

Greek Ministry at UA– I have just launched Greek InterVarsity efforts here at UA. I’ve connected with over 15 sororities and am waiting to see about visiting some fraternity meetings as well to offer spiritual community for members of the Greek system. The other night I passed out 40 flyers at a Greek event to a bunch of different Greek organizations. They were kind and fun to engage with and seemed to think that a Bible study would be great for people in their chapters. Tuesday night, God surprised me and a freshman named Olivia by using us to answer each other’s prayers. I have been asking God to send me a missional freshman sorority girl and he did! She had been praying for some kind of spiritual depth for her relationship with God, and soon enough she heard about Greek InterVarsity and showed up to meet me! We really blessed each other’s hearts and we are so excited to see what God wants to do in the way of bringing his love to Greek life over the next few years! Pray for us as we continue to pursue this part of campus! And pray for other students like Olivia to show up!

Greek Conference– At the beginning of every Spring semester, InterVarsity holds Greek Conferences around the nation for our students in Greek InterVarsity. It’s an amazing weekend of training and renewal for these Christian campus student leaders. NAU Greek IV wants to send over 10 students this year to the LA Greek InterVarsity conference and I am hoping to at least send one. But pray with me in dreaming bigger and pray with me that God would provide a couple hundred dollars for each student to attend! These conferences are catalytic in the momentum of something BIG happening on our campus! If you want to hear more about Greek ministry and my heart for it, please contact me! I LOVE TALKING ABOUT IT!

My transition back to Tucson– Please pray for my heart and this transition back to Tucson. Even though Tucson is a wonderful place for me to thrive, it’s also hard to go from long-distance back to nearby relationships. I am looking to create great social rhythms and grow in areas that have been hard for me to find stability in for the last few years. Pray joy and peace over these next couple months for me. Pray for maturity to continue to develop in me so that I can give people grace and communicate more effectively. I also have had trouble in comparing my past experiences to my current ones and I think that I can definitely enter into these new ones with a better attitude.

Urbana– December 26-January 1st I will be traveling out to St. Louis for InterVarsity’s missions conference called Urbana. It’s a giant missions conference that happens every 3 years. Over 16,000 people attend and it’s up to us InterVarsity staff to host it and make the whole thing work. I am assigned to prayer ministry at this year’s Urbana. Pray for our team of prayer ministers, that God would fill us everyday, that we would get enough rest before, during, and after Urbana, and that we would be healing and prophetic in the lives of the people who who come to us for prayer. Pray that God would do a mighty work in thousands of people’s lives and that they would be healed, set free, and prepped to lead lives on mission.

Next semester- Would you join me in starting to pray for next semester? My current Team Leader, Jon Phillips is going on sabbatical. Pray for his six months away- that they would be restful and spiritually fruitful. Pray for Ivanna and I as we lead the chapter here at UA. I know that things are going to be different because I am a different kind of leader than Jon. However, I will continue to be in the process of training to take over as Team Leader, and just need a lot of prayer for my anxiety surrounding that. I want next semester to be full of new life and momentum to meet new students and continue these new ministry efforts started this semester. I know God has a lot of amazing things in store for UAIV, and I want to sow spiritual seed now that God might show up and show off later!

Thank you so much for your care and prayer. It affects eternity. For real.
