Here comes the influx of good decisions now that I’m 25 and have a fully developed brain!
I decided to make a ministry blog! I figure that I will be in ministry for the rest of my life, so this blog will be relevant for as long as I feel it is, no matter what ministry I am doing! Maybe someday it will entail me writing journal entries about trying to lead the entire town of Bisbee, AZ to Jesus as an old lady. Who really knows!
Either way, I realized that I was writing less of my inspired, soap-boxy blog posts on my Big Girl Blog because I would only write when I had something to say about my ministry. I don’t want to take the fun and passion out of writing, but I also want a special place for my blogs about my ministry experiences, news, and thoughts.
So, as if my life were a TV show… previously on The Life and Times of Bridget Gee:
– I graduated UA in May 2012 and got hired with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (IV for short) as an intern.
– I moved to Boulder, Colorado in August 2012 to start my internship at CU Boulder.
– In March 2013, I was offered a staff position with IV at Northern Arizona University.
– I moved to Flagstaff, Arizona in August 2013 to start working for InterVarsity.
– Currently (2014-2015) it is my second year working for IV with NAU students doing ministry to the campus.
Here are five reasons I joined staff:
1. Diverse Options– When it comes to life, adventure is often going to be a high priority for me. I like to keep busy, discover new things, and meet people. Working for IVCF, I have the opportunity to grow as an adult, as a missionary, see the world, develop world changers, see lives transformed, take risks, see personal healing, and on and on and on. I feel like the options are endless working for IV!
2. IVCF is impressive– The longer I’ve been involved with this organization, the more it blows my mind how much wisdom, grace, and giftings God has laid upon this ministry. InterVarsity doesn’t stick to growing in one area- it seeks to let God shine through us in evangelism, discipleship, multiethnicity, chapter planting, Bible Study, missions, and so on.
3. It’s interdenominational– The denominations I belonged to growing up were a little more on the charismatic side, but they never really acted like typical denominations. I love meeting students who come from all different faith backgrounds whether it’s a totally different denomination than me or someone who doesn’t believe in Jesus at all.
4. The support I had– My staff workers were one of the biggest reasons I wanted to do what they did. They poured into my life in a way that’s irreplaceable. They always cared for me, gave me grace, and carried hope for me. I wanted to be able to extend that care to others too! And now I am!
5. It’s worth it– Whether it’s 6 years out of college or the rest of my life, college ministry is worth it for me. God constantly speaks to my heart, my soul is growing ever closer to him, and I just feel like I’m becoming better and better! Reliance on God is hard, but it’s the safest and freest place to be! Plus, I get to see people’s lives dramatically changed on a daily basis!
I love my job and I’m glad that this is what I’m doing right now! If you’re able to support my ministry in anyway, you can follow the links on the “Ministry Links” page.
Thank you!
This is gonna be fun.
